GK Shamim remand for 5 more days, this time CID

Shamim was arrested in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on a remand petition filed by CID's senior assistant police superintendent Abu Saeed. The matter is expected to be heard on Wednesday. Earlier, the court sent GK Shamim's bodyguards to four days' remand in the case.Shamim, known as the Jubo League leader, has been known as influential in various areas of the capital, including Sabujbagh, Basabo, Motijheel. News of his departure for the contract work in the public works building has been headlined in the media. RAB reported receiving about Tk 200 million in cash, FDR of Tk 200 million, firearms and liquor during a raid at various clubs in Dhaka against the casino-gambling campaign. Shamim and his seven bodyguards were then arrested.
The next day, RAB handed over Shamim and his bodyguards to the Gulshan Police Station and filed three cases against them under the Arms and Drugs Act and Money Laundering Act. On that day, Shamim was produced before the court and a 5 day remand was made in arms and drug cases. In two cases, the court granted him 5 days remand for five days. On the other hand, Shamim's bodyguards were sent on remand for a four-day remand in a police case. According to the law, the CID was investigating the money laundering case. Sheikh Rakibur Rahman, general registration officer of the court, said the CID had filed a 3-day remand in Gulshan's money laundering case. But he is being remanded in another case. He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday. He will be arrested and remanded in the case.
