Nepal Speaker resigns on rape charges

A local newspaper said he expressed his desire to resign in a letter to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. In a letter published in 'My Republic', Krishna Bahadur said, "I am resigning for moral reasons in the interest of a transparent inquiry into the serious questions that have arisen about my character because of those allegations."
